At Christmas, we had a beautiful winter with snow and mild frost. Near the beaver’s dam I noticed the felled young spruce. It’s an illegal notch. Only that the perpetrator of this is a beaver who decided to have a Christmas tree. The beaver cut the tree and then shortened it. I joked that it was probably too high for his apartment. She was right next to him in the water. I’ve never seen beavers cutting down beavers. Probably it’s a new Christmas tradition.
