Usually starlings come to us in the first decade of March or later. Happened to see once in the last days of February. It was warm and snowless. Here is a surprise, on January 8 I see a starling on a willow under my window. I didn’t have time to take a photo. Again this morning. A couple of starlings are sitting on the willow. They sit and clean the feathers. I got ready, took a few photos and they didn’t fly away at all. I believe they have been in the meadows so far. It was warm and the ground was damp.

Now snow has fallen, a light frost has froze the earth. Starlings came to us at the estate. You may be looking for fruit in trees and shrubs. I have never noticed starlings in winter before. Maybe it’s spring soon?
