They say that autumn is the best time to photograph autumn. It’s true, we have colourful trees, autumn fogs in the morning. However, late autumn is coming. The trees become bare, and the days are cloudy and gray. Sometimes the views are almost black and white. The rainy weather is not conducive to walking or photography. You can try small elements of nature in the forest. Such macro images can be interesting. You need creativity to take interesting photos at this time.

It is said that autumn landscapes are a photographer’s favorite subject. The richness of colors, autumn mists and soft light are conducive to obtaining beautiful photos. Of course, you should look for good views and choose the right light. If you take a photo without much thought, it may turn out that the autumn landscape will be so-so. Sometimes a photo of a small element of nature is much more interesting than a landscape. Many attractive opportunities can be found in the forest. Trees take on various colors. Photos of mushrooms and mosses can be interesting. Here are a few photos taken with a smartphone and a SLR camera.

“March is like a pot.” That’s the old proverb saying. I will mention posts about what it was like in March in previous years. Memory is short. Full spring should not be expected now. In April, the weather often plays tricks. One thing is for sure. From day to day the sun rises earlier and sets later. After the spring equinox – March 21. We already have spring in the calendar, but will nature be spring? Here are links to posts from March in previous years.

After a very warm February, the weather changed in March. First, heavy snow fell unexpectedly at night. He didn’t lie there for long. The next days are full sun all day long. Quite high frosts at night. This is typical March weather. The flights of wild geese and cranes have ended. During walks, from time to time you can hear the calls of resident pairs of cranes in the local modest wetlands. Apparently the larks have arrived. I haven’t seen it myself. Starlings also did not appear on the old linden and maple trees here. I didn’t see any lapwings in the nearby marsh pool yesterday. Several couples usually stay here every year. The weather will probably change a bit in the coming days and starlings and lapwings will appear in large numbers. The buds on willows, elderberries and bird cherry trees are already starting to burst. Just a little longer and nature will become a bit greener.

It’s also worth visiting the lakes in February. https://siteofnature.com/visiting-the-lakes/ Mon, 19 Feb 2024 14:05:28 +0000 https://siteofnature.com/?p=18410 The post It’s also worth visiting the lakes in February. appeared first on Site of nature.

We usually visit the lakes in the summer. For most of the year, no one comes here except anglers. Yesterday, February 18, there was wonderful sunny and windless weather. We took advantage of this by going to Lake Mikaszewo. The lake is still covered with a thin layer of ice. There is water only at the shores. The view is very attractive in the sun. I captured it in several photos. The walk along the shore is pleasant. The forest surrounding the lake smells of resin and moisture. There are remnants of snow here and there. We didn’t see any animals. Two long lines of geese flew over us. As usual, they call loudly.

We weren’t the only winter tourists. We met a couple of young people. The woman in the sun was reading… from her cell phone. In the privacy of your home, solar radiation brings warmth. A few more months and tourists will appear again. It will be very noisy in places. Meanwhile, the forest inhabitants enjoy peace and quiet.

Our Sidra river is also no worse https://siteofnature.com/our-sidra-river/ Mon, 12 Feb 2024 10:22:18 +0000 https://siteofnature.com/?p=18372 The post Our Sidra river is also no worse appeared first on Site of nature.

Recently, flood threats have been talked about all over the country. We watch the floods of the Bug River, the Narew River, the Biebrza River and others. Sometimes they cause a lot of damage. This is not an everyday phenomenon. Our little river Sidra also floods from time to time. These floods did not cause any damage. They are quite spectacular. Now this winter flood lasts quite a long time. Taking advantage of the short glimpses of sunlight, I took some photos. Not everyone has the opportunity to watch it. There were larger floods of Sidra, but always during spring snowmelt. There has been no heavy snowfall for many years, so spring floods have not occurred.

I feel a bit sorry for the moles in the meadows, whose huge mounds were visible. The water probably completely submerged them. There are no waterfowl because it is still winter. Well, on Friday, February 9, I heard the cries of cranes from the nearby swamps. Is spring just around the corner?
